The Client:
Mackenzie Stuart is working exclusively with a leading global rolling stock and component manufacturer who are looking to recruit a Business Development Director to improve strategy and increase company revenue. The firm has a $multibillion turnover and is highly regarded as one of the market leaders within the transportation manufacturing sector and has an excellent reputation providing products to the rail industry worldwide.

The Role:
* Due to ongoing expansions in the transportation sector focusing on the Southeast as well as the US, the company is looking to bring on a Business Development Director to help secure and develop new business. This role covers the whole of the US, but depending on location may be more focused towards certain locations.
* The role will be responsible for preparing and securing bids for contracts over $40million as well as developing strategy and increasing company turnover.
* Collect commercial and financial information needed for bid and proposal of the project.
* Review requests for proposals (RFPs); identify key requirements and expectations, develop proposal plans, outlines and schedules.
* Reporting to the Vice President of Sales.

Key Requirements:
* Candidates should hold a degree in either Business, Marketing, Engineering or Science. Due to the nature of the role, some travel within the US will be required.
* +10 years rail and transit industry experience, including writing and managing proposals.
* Familiar with full business development lifecycle, from conception, RFIs, RFQs, RFPs through to award.
* Previous business development experience on rolling stock, components and/or locomotive contracts valued at over $25million as well as a proven track record of bidding and securing on such projects.
* Background in achieving new business targets and increasing company turnover.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong planning, strategizing and managing skills.
* Strong understanding of contractual and commercial principles and processes.

The Client:
Mackenzie Stuart is currently working with a leading Heavy Civil Contractor who are seeking to appoint a Senior Estimator responsible for overseeing heavy civil projects across Eastern USA.

The Role:
* An expert in comprising large scale tenders focusing on heavy civil projects $10Million to $75Million in value.
* Work closely and be the right hand man to the Chief Estimator.
*Lead estimations on Storm Water, Dam, Waste Water Treatment Plants, and Large Heavy Civil projects will be the project focus.
* Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scopes of work and required contents of estimates.
* Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers about prospective work.
* Be able to assess the market for shifts/patterns that may contribute to increase in future workload.
* Oversee and review the work of the estimating department ensuring an effective and streamlined bid process.
* Work on a preliminary project schedule based on the information provided in the plans and specifications utilizing Primavera P6 or Primavera Contractor software.
* Research pricing for estimates based on historical and regional costs
* Research new bidding opportunities and newly advertised projects within the division’s territory.
* Assist in creating, organizing and maintaining vendors and subcontractors lists in order to facilitate quotes for projects

Key Experience:
* Degree in Civil Engineering ideally.

The business is moving from strength to strength and is looking to take on multiple Project Directors within their transit division in response to recent project awards.

THE ROLE
* Leading the delivery of rail and transit projects valued at $25m and above.
* Responsible for producing and implementing all delivery scheduling as well as leading project team.
* Full profit and loss of project.
* Ensuring the timely completion of projects to budget.
* Keeping track of the project spend with the support of the Commercial team.
* Reporting to the Senior Vice President, the individual will be required to give regular updates to the board on the progress of the key projects.
* Key point of contact with the client to ensure that expectations are met.
* Keeping to strict quality and safety standards within the group.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:
* Portfolio spanning 10 or more years delivering similar rail and transit projects in the US with a preference for experience working with a leading North American contractor.
* Managed projects over $20million and track record of completing projects on time and within budget.
* Prior experience collaborating with key Transit and Government agencies.
* Degree in Engineering or a related degree.
* Strong Leadership skills, with a background leading large, complex projects in the rail and transit field.
* Strong understanding of the current market.

The Role:
* Due to the company expanding its infrastructure division across Canada they are looking to bring a Bid Director on board to help grow their Infrastructure group in the West of Canada.
* This is a new role created by management to head up Business Development, Sales and Bid Management across the whole of Canada with a key focus on the West.
* The role will be responsible for pursuing +$250Million Public Private Partnerships (P3) and Design-Build projects across the region.
* A key focus of the role will be on growing the transportation sector for the group and collaborating closely with key Transportation and Government Authorities and across Canada.
* Full bid and capture management of projects working closely with the proposal, commercial and legal teams.

Key Requirements:
* Candidates should be educated to a minimum of BSc Engineering or Architecture Degree.
* +15 years industry experience in the engineering and construction industry with a track record of sales in the Transportation and Infrastructure market across Canada with an understanding of large P3, Design Build contract negotiations.
* Lead pre-contract negotiations as required, liaising with Group Legal as necessary
* A strong and proven track record in business development, sales and marketing throughout Eastern and Western Canada having worked for a construction contractor.
* Must have experience in leading and motivating business development, sales teams and project managers.
* Key relationships with Municipalities, Government Authorities and Investment Partners.
* Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills

THE BUSINESS
Mackenzie Stuart are currently seeking a Commercial Manager on behalf of one of the largest and most successful home building groups in the UK. The successful candidate will be based in Bristol and the industry leader is looking to appoint an individual with adequate experience within the house building industry and relevant leadership skills to contribute to ongoing business success.

THE ROLE
Manage the quantity surveying and buying activities in order that procurement and cost reporting are aligned within the COINS framework.
Work with all suppliers to negotiate best deals where appropriate and work with other departments to improve cost effectiveness.
Negotiate and place orders with labour and material subcontractors/suppliers on a competitive tender basis.
Carry out full CVR process and prepare and present information for P&L meetings.
Ensure adequate resources are on site to commence build in line with development programmes and site budgets.

REQUIREMENTS
Strong knowledge of all buying and quantity surveying activities.
Good knowledge of Building Regulations, NHBC and Health and Safety requirements.
Wide experience in the procurement and purchase of materials and sub contract labour.
IT literate (COINS system preferable).
At least 5 years house building experience.
