General Manager: Engineered Wood (Building Materials)

Job Summary:

We are currently partnered with a leading Building Materials company who are searching for a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead their operations in the engineered wood division. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in managing teams, driving sales, and optimizing operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

1. Leadership and Team Management:
   • Provide strong leadership to the branch team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
   • Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team to achieve individual and collective goals.
2. Sales and Business Development:
   • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to meet and exceed revenue targets.
   • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders.
   • Stay abreast of market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to identify business growth opportunities.
3. Operational Excellence:
   • Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and adherence to safety standards.
   • Collaborate with production and logistics teams to optimize supply chain processes and inventory management.
   • Implement cost-effective measures to enhance overall branch profitability.
4. Customer Service:
   • Uphold a commitment to exceptional customer service, addressing customer inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly.
   • Work closely with the customer service team to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.
5. Financial Management:
   • Develop and manage the branch budget, monitor financial performance, and implement corrective actions as needed.
   • Analyze financial reports and key performance indicators to make informed decisions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or a related field. MBA is a plus.
• Proven experience in a managerial role within the building materials or manufacturing industry, with a focus on engineered wood products.
• Strong understanding of the engineered wood market, including product knowledge and industry trends.
• Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
• Demonstrated success in sales, business development, and achieving revenue targets.
• Solid financial acumen and experience managing budgets.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
