Accountant – Medical Devices

Salary: Up to €60,000 + Benefits 

Mackenzie Stuart is currently recruiting for a dynamic and experienced  Accountant who will work alongside the Branch Manager of a rapidly growing Medical Devices firm. The Role is based in the Charleroi Region, Belgium

Responsibilities of the Accountant will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for ensuring accurate P&L reporting for monthly, quarterly and year-end results
  • Responsible for P&L Budgeting and Forecasting
  • To assure that local tax and statutory fiscal requirements are met
  • Coordinate external tax consultants and auditors
  • Support external tax consultant for the preparation of statutory financial statement
  • Prepare the forecasts and budget
  • Manage treasury, bank relationship and cash management

 

The preferred candidate will have:

  • Ability to work autonously
  • Fluency in English and French/Flemish (highly Desirable)
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics or finance.
  • Prior Accounting experience in a start up environment
  • Financial statement preparation experience.
  • Knowledge of ERP Navision (highly Desirable)
  • Ability to work in a Matrix environment with multiple resporting lines.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Chief Audit Executive, the Head of Internal Audit will be responsible for overseeing all audit and assurance activities across Europe
  • Sitting within a small-medium sized audit function, the successful individual will have one direct report. You will be responsible for their professional training, mentoring and development
  • Provide monthly reports to the Chief Audit Executive, documenting all analyses activities across Europe and providing an overview of implemented changes and suggested remediation’s
  • Working with the Chief Audit Executive and the second Regional Head of Internal Audit, develop and improve the current audit processes, frameworks and techniques. Providing suggestions for best practice
  • Be willing to be part of conducting audits where required
  • Interact with various regulatory authorities, ensuring compliance with regional laws
  • Be responsible for all hiring and training of new staff members across Europe
  • Manage interactions with external auditing teams, providing direction for their
  • Assist in ad hoc projects where required

 

Required Criteria:

  • 5-10 years audit experience within the banking industry
  • Big 4 training
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Fluency in French and English
  • Familiarity with IFRS and French GAAP

 

Desired Criteria:

  • Fluency in other languages
  • Masters Degree or MBA

Role Responsibilities:

  • Assist in conducting IT audits based around systems, information security and other areas
  • Taking a risk based approach, analyse the current audit reports, identifying areas for improvement
  • Working with you team, provide suggestions for mediating the identified risks
  • Conduct SOX controls reviews
  • Undertake ad-hoc assignments where required
  • The position requires up to 50% international travel. This travel would be predominantly focused around the Americas, however there would be occasional trips to Europe and the APAC region. Typical rotation is 2 weeks in the office, 2 weeks out of office. Occasionally assignments are 1 week long.

 

Required Criteria:

Mackenzie Stuart is working with a large cap organisation operating within the technology industry. They are looking to employ the services of a senior internal auditor to be based in their North-East New Jersey office. The company operates in a decentralised model, being headquartered in California. However, 30-40% of the companies finance division are based in the New Jersey office.

 

Position responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Regional Audit Manager, the successful individual will conduct operational, financial and compliance based audits covering all of the companies business units, across the Americas;
  • Create audit reports documenting all monitored areas and provide suggestions for improvement;
  • Present these reports to the Regional Audit Manger following each assignment. Any notable findings should be presented upon their discovery;
  • Travel to various destinations across the Americas. Predominantly focused upon the USA. The maximum assignment length is 2 weeks, however typically assignments as 1 week long;
  • Conduct SOX compliance reviews (less than 15% of time expenditure);
  • Liaise with individuals from a variety of other disciplines on larger projects, such as Tax, Fraud and Internal Control.

 

Required criteria:

  • 5+ years of audit experience, preferably 2-4 years in Big 4 and 2+ years in industry
  • Have a degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience utilising US GAAP
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 50% of the time
  • Fluency in English

 

Desired Criteria:

  • Experience within the Technology industry
  • CPA/ACA/ACCA/CA
  • Spanish, Portuguese or French language skills are seen very favourably

The organisation have experience strong growth over the last couple of years and looking to expand the local finance team as a result. The successful candidate can therefore expect significant responsibility, growth and development opportunities both nationally and globally.

The responsibilities of the Financial Controller include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinating and managing the monthly and quarterly financial closing and reporting.
  • Supervising the full monthly general ledger closing process.
  • Preparing reporting packs, financial statements, variance analysis, commentaries and presentations as required.
  • Managing the flow of financial information to key stakeholders.
  • Business partnering with Plant Managers.
  • Ensuring compliance with local statutory regulations and USGAAP.
  • Coordination of statutory audit and tax return preparation.
  • Finance lead on various projects as required and systems implementations/ upgrades.
  • Development of junior controllers.

The preferred candidate will be:

  • Fluent in German and English.

  • Possess in-depth knowledge of financial and management accounting along with integral knowledge of all financial and accounting procedures.

For this position you can work from home but would ideally need to be located near an international airport. You would be joining a very mature, large internal audit function, which values audit as a strategic partner.

 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Regional Internal Audit Director, the Internal Audit Manager will be responsible for managing audit engagements across the EMEA region. The engagements will be primarily focused across Europe, however 1 trip per year will be to the Middle East or Africa.
  • Collect the assignment reports from the Senior and Junior Auditors and compile these into a clear, succinct project report. Alerting senior management to notable findings.
  • Create and implement and annual audit plan, taking a risk based approach.
  • Be responsible for hiring new team members and ensuring the current function maintains the highest professional standards.
  • Liaise with Director and C-level individuals within the audit function and finance division. Discussing best practice and ensuring the alignment of engagements with the wider company strategy.
  • Travel to various destinations across the EMEA region, around 30% of the time. The maximum engagement is 3 weeks. Typically engagements are 2 weeks long.

 

Essential Criteria:

  • 8-20 years of professional experience
  • Masters Degree, Post Graduate Degree or MBA qualified
  • 4 or more years of Big 4 or regional public accounting experience
  • Proven track record of managerial responsibilities
  • Familiarity with IFRS and regional GAAP
  • Excellent communication abilities, including a fluency in English

 

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience within the engineering and manufacturing industries
  • ACCA, ACA, CPA, CA will be seen favourably
  • Additional European language skills
