Mackenzie Stuart is working with a multi-billion revenue organisation. They are looking to employ the services of an experienced audit professional to join a well established audit function based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

 

Role

Title: Senior Internal Auditor

Travel: Up to 30%, predominantly around Africa. (Typically 1 week long projects, occasionally two weeks long)

Location: Johannesburg, South Africa

 

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting directly into the Regional Audit Manager, the successful candidate will conduct a range of audits, across all areas of the companies operations;
  • Audits will range from operational, financial, compliance, fraud and strategic investigations. However the focus will be on operational and risk based engagements;
  • Collate audit findings into audit reports and provide these to the Regional Audit Manager on a regular basis;
  • Create a suggested plan of action, addressing where changes could be made to remediate any potential issues;
  • Utilise data analytics software and tools to help create a more efficient, digitalised audit function;
  • Develop and monitor the results of changes  made during previous audits, analysing their effectively.

 

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years audit experience
  • CA (SA)
  • Experience working to a COSO framework
  • Degree educated, ideally in Accounting or a related discipline
  • Fluency in English
  • Experience using data analytics software

 

Desired Experience:

  • CISA, CIA, CFE
  • Script writing abilities in data analytics
  • Data visualisation expertise

Mackenzie Stuart is currently recruiting for an accomplished Controller on behalf of a leading automation company. With operations spread across the world, our client provide an outstanding opportunity for progression and development and to play a lead role in the growth of the Group.

Reporting to the Global VP Finance and Site General Manager, the position will provide financial leadership for the division and support the organisations senior leadership team. Due to the high level of responsibility with this position it would ideally be suited to a seasoned Manager or Director, with strong leadership and strategic capabilities, along with experience working with C-Level Executives.

The responsibilities of the Controller include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Financial reporting and budgeting for the division.
  • Business partner to Commercial, Operations and Sales Directors.
  • Preparation of forecasts, long terms plans and financial analysis.
  • Provide support to VP Finance and General Manager on global projects as required.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, IFRS and HGB.
  • Development of the internal control framework.
  • Project management and supporting analysis.
  • Full P&L and Balance Sheet responsibility for 2 production sites.
  • Part of the global finance leadership team for the division.
  • Strategic analysis and identifying investment opportunities.
  • Risk management, analysis and supporting recommendations.
  • Lead talent development, hiring and creation of a leading finance team.

The preferred candidate will be:

  • Fluent in English and German.
  • Educated to Degree level in Business, Finance, Accounting or Economics (or similar).
  • Minimum of 10 years experience – with experience within the manufacturing or automation sectors.
  • Experience working within a mid-sized multinational corporation.
  • Strong finance and Controlling background – Percentage of Completion (POC) Accounting experience and Cost Accounting is essential.
  • A hands on, finance leader with proven management background.
  • Able to work strategically, proactively and business partner with General Managers, Sales and Operations Directors.

Reporting to the organisations CEO, you will lead the organisations finance and accounting divisions, working strategically with the CEO on the growth of the organisation globally.

The responsibilities of the VP Finance include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Full finance and accounting responsibility of the global operations.
  • Management of the forecasting, budgeting and planning cycles.
  • Financial reporting to the CEO and Shareholders.
  • Responsibility for understanding and implementing new accounting controls.
  • Responsible for production of quarterly Board of Directors pack.
  • Key point of contact for internal and external auditors, banks and other stakeholders.
  • Business partner for the Commercial and Operations teams.

The preferred candidate will:

  • Must be a US Citizen or have the right to work and live in the US, without the need for sponsorship.
  • Hold at least a Degree in Accounting and Finance – ideally with an MBA or Master’s Degree.
  • Preferably CPA qualified.
  • A minimum of 12 years experience – ideally within Industrial Manufacturing or Automation sectors.
  • Strong technical finance and accounting background and experience within a leading, public multinational organisation.
  • Strategic mind-set with a global business perspective and experience business partnering at C-Level.
  • Knowledge of the financial aspects of acquisitions and divestitures, including due diligence, modelling and post-merger integration.

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting directly into the Head of Internal Audit, the Senior Internal Audit Manager will primarily be engaged in creating and implementing the annual audit plan;
  • The audits in the organisation are very strategically focused. The audit team is systematically addressing each aspect of the companies operations and processes. Typically 1-3 targets are set to achieve within the team each year, with large scale audits addressing each area. The senior management then makes operational and strategic decisions based on the audits;
  • The Senior Manager will be responsible for several direct reports. You will play a pivotal role in their coaching, mentoring and professional development. The organisation is currently hiring and you will also be involved in recruitment process;
  • Liaise with various individuals in other departments, providing advice on how to ensure processes are maintained efficiently;
  • Assist in the development of the GRC framework. Providing suggestions for improvement;
  • Where required, assist the Internal Control team in ensuring SOX compliance;
  • Travel to various destinations globally, around 10% of the time.

 

Required Experience:

  • 10+ years audit experience, either in Big 4; in industry in an international organisation; or a combination of both
  • CPA, CIA, CFE or a similar certification

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting directly into the Senior Audit Manager, the Senior Auditor will be involved in conducting a range of audits. Predominantly these will be integrated projects, encompassing elements of financial, operational, risk and compliance auditing;
