This firm has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Construction Estimator for the Manhattan office to work on high end retail and commercial projects in many major markets throughout the United States. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-respected, successful company with aggressive growth plans.
Despite world economic and industry challenges, this firm continues to be successful in almost every category with growth every other year since our inception in 2005. This steady growth means we are now looking for an experienced Project Manager.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the complete estimating process. This is to include thorough bid documentation review for a deep understanding of the project.

The estimator is to be familiar with all aspects of construction and estimating, should be able to identify, solicit and select highly qualified subcontractors as appropriate for the scope of the project.

The estimator will manage several projects simultaneously and effectively in a fast paced environment.

The candidate will be responsible for addressing and resolving issues related to the project in a responsible manner and proactively seeking input from others. They should assure that all estimates have current market based pricing built into the estimate template. Under guidance from senior management, candidate will review drawings, specifications and tender documents to provide estimate values that will be used to bid, award and perform the work.

Skills should include interpreting customer bid requirements, assembling detailed and complete summaries, support the project on an ongoing basis to project managers and field staff and conduct cost analysis at completion of project.
The successful candidate will coordinate activities at the construction site in accordance with pre-established policies, project schedules, budgets, drawings, specifications, and procedures. Candidate will be responsible for the development of short interval schedules and documentation of daily work activities as well as participation in project meetings.

Candidate should work in partnership with the project team to identify and address issues of constructability or lack of scope during pre-construction phase and participate in the review of the final scope, the buy-out and the schedule. The job responsibility includes overseeing all field operations to ensure proper site safety, construction progress and quality control.

Candidate should also be familiar with or be able to address any landlord or governmental requirement in order to avoid project delays and ensure safety. The candidate must develop a comprehensive understanding of project strategy and client commitments including financial goals, scheduling, logistics, phasing, milestones, and inspections.

Candidate will maintain effective and open dialogue with the project team regarding any changes or emergent job conditions and will promote positive subcontractor relations by dealing professionally and fairly with all vendors.

Candidates need to be assertive, organized, and energetic with effective verbal and written communication skills. This position requires exceptional organizational skills and an attention to detail second to none.

Knowledge of the Italian language is helpful but not necessary.

Job Responsibilities:

The Project Manager will be able to manage the entire project implementation and its related budget from the embryonic stage to the post-opening assistance. He / she will be coordinating people and processes to ensure that our projects are delivered on time and produce the desired results and will be the go-to person for everything related to the project’s organization and timeline. The ideal candidate must also be proficient in producing, understanding and verifying technical drawings and be experienced with the local rules and regulations, making sure the project is realized as per Client’s expectations, Landlord’s instructions and authorities’ guidelines. Moreover the PM should be able to prepare CPMs, track and record the evolution of the project by preparing accurate reports and to supervise the building site works, making sure the subs/suppliers adhere to the Company standards and policies.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Applicants must be based in Dubai or UAE to apply for this position.
  •  Bachelor or Master Degree in Engineering / Architecture.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in interior fit-out, building & construction business in the UAE.
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office and AutoCAD mandatory. Any other software is a plus.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent in English – written and spoken. Italian is a plus but not mandatory. Any other language is a plus.
  • Availability to travel throughout the Middle East even for long periods.
  • Driving license.

  • Monitor projects from successful bids to identify changes in scope and identify estimate deficiencies.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • The successful candidate shall have a four year engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and/or experience.
  • 7-10 years of estimating commercial building projects or equivalent field experience.
  • Ability to estimate other divisions of work (Structural, Civil, Finishes, MEP work, etc) is a plus.
  • Requires strong computer skills, familiarity with scheduling & estimating software and MS Office.
  • Conceptual Estimating, Preparing Proposals, On-screen Take-off and Primavera (P6) is a plus.

The candidate will be responsible for managing environmental compliance programs and assuring state and local environmental permit compliance during construction and restoration phases, including the following.

Main Functionality

  •  Responsible for managing daily compliance monitoring and completing field inspections, environmental training, and other environmental compliance requirements and activities during project construction.
  • Work directly with the construction management team to prioritize and schedule daily activities of the environmental inspector and assure subcontractors complete environmental requirements.
  • Plan and implement remedial action for non-compliance with construction contract and environmental permit requirements. Works collaboratively with the Projects management team to provide solutions for compliance issues.
  • Supervise the field inspector and complete inspection of the construction sites, including visual observations of current property conditions, identification of potential environmental concerns, photographic documentation, written reports and follow up on corrective action measures.
  • Organize and coordinate on site meetings, discussions, and agreements with construction sub contractor, owners representative and agency representatives.
  • Completes and reviews daily and weekly environmental inspection reports. Direct the preparation of variance requests, compliance reports, and other reporting required by the project’s environmental permitting engineer and regulatory agencies.
  • Supervise the firm and their subcontractors staff conducting inspection, monitoring, surveys, and other environmental compliance activities.
  • Ensure implementation of the firm’s safety and environmental program and requirements. Follows client and site safety and environmental standards.
  • Live temporarily within or near the project area for the project duration of 12 or more months and work in the project construction facilities.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • The candidate should possess at least 5+ years field experience in the construction industry managing environmental compliance preferably within the power, oil and gas or renewable energy sectors.
  • Strong experience in construction stormwater management compliance, permitting and wetland/waterway compliance and permitting knowledge is a must.
  • Strong communication and change management skills are required.
  • Pennsylvania experience and regulatory knowledge a plus.

• Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the Company, or as otherwise directed

 
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in safety engineering, safety management, occupational environment health, industrial health, or related field strongly preferred
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Safety Manager (CSM), or Certified Health & Safety Technician (CHST) certifications beneficial but not required
• 15+ years of field safety experience in heavy civil construction and transportation
• Knowledge of Construction Safety and Health regulations, including OSHA construction and general industry regulations
• OSHA Authorized Construction Trainer
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills; Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
• Strong computer skills including MS Office

THE ROLE

The Role:
*Responsible for supporting preconstruction and business development staff on +$500m P3, Design-Build and JV Highway, Bridge, Rail and Tunnelling projects across Canada.
*Leading the review of project plans, requirements and specifications on complex bids/tender processes/project delivery.
*Prepare/review accurate quality take offs, breakdowns and material pricing.
*Prepare/review bid packages, drawings and specifications with the project management team.
*Coordinate with clients, JV Partners, engineers, subcontractors and vendors.
*Oversees and provides support to any number of projects from an operational, financial and resource standpoint.

Key Requirements:
*Degree educated in Construction Management or Engineering.
*7 years relevant construction experience as Snr Estimator/Snr Project Manager.
