Mackenzie Stuart are recruiting on behalf of a reputable house builder with a strong growth plan in place to extend sales and delivery two fold over the next 3 years.

THE ROLE:
• Land Development lead responsible for the all land processes within the regional office, handling land purchasing for multiple projects.
• Required to deal with various stages of land planning and developments including strategic and immediate.
• Responsible for managing and submitting bids alongside assessing off-market opportunities.
• Responsible for the preparation of land reports.
• Provide and monitor land market activity on a continuing basis be both proactive and reactive in the market to opportunities you create and will come to your knowledge.
• Develop and implement the land acquisition strategy through the identification, acquisition, monitoring and delivery of sustainable opportunities, negotiating contracts to achieve the most favourable terms and conditions.
• Ensure value improvement through smart land acquisition, outstanding management of the planning process, and cost efficiency – within annual budgets and forecasts.
• Management of the land and development budget with close liaison with the Financial Director.
• Maintain a sound knowledge of all technical aspects covering the acquisition and development of land and associated legal agreements.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Must have sound knowledge of local plans with ability to take through from identification to exchange and completion (managing legal process).
• Must have a strong knowledge of surrounding areas along with a sufficient network of contacts.
• Considerable track record in leading a Land and Planning Department for a housebuilding developer
• Detailed knowledge of the land acquisition process, relevant legislation, geographical area of business and its key contacts e.g. Agents, Vendors, Planners.
• Sound knowledge of technical issues

Mackenzie Stuart is presently working with an International Construction firm as they seek to strengthen their commercial team with a Senior Quantity Surveyor on a major project in Eastern Canada. The firm is highly regarded as one of the top market leaders within the infrastructure sector and has an excellent reputation for large scale projects around the globe.

The Role:

* The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the successful commercial and contractual performance of a major Design-Build PPP Water Infrastructure project in Eastern Canada.

* Close collaboration with the project commercial team to deliver the project according to the commercial strategy.
* Ensure effective management of sub-contractors administration, client claims and disputes along with monthly reporting/scheduling.
* Liaise with project support functions such as finance, supply chain, risk and ensure an all-round commercial service is maintained.
* Offer major project support with contract management, change orders and any major claim negotiation.

* Manage a developing team of Assistant/Graduate QSs.

* Reporting into the Commercial Manager for the company.
 

Key Requirements:

* Degree qualified Quantity Surveying, Commercial or Law.

* +7 years’ industry experience.

* Knowledge of contract law, litigation, change management and dispute resolution in Canada.
* Commercial experience working in the Civil Engineering/Infrastructure construction market.
* Experience on +$100M Water Treatment/Waste Water projects ideal.
* Ability to work in a fast paced project environment working to a tight deadline.
* Excellent communication skills with an ability to work with autonomy.

Responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Works closely with Regional Management Team to ensure contract management and tenders are competitive and profitable
  • Identify technical specifications required for established customers.
  • Serve as a technical resource to other team members.
  • Participate in the development of scale up, process testing plans and procedures, data analysis and/or communication of the results.
  • Must be able to maintain current projects and help secure new business
  • Opportunity to participate in the development of new applications, product launch testing plans, data analysis and/or communication of the results.
  • Prepare product specifications incorporating products and services into customer applications.
  • Develop strategic plans for portfolio expansion

To be considered for the role you must meet the following requirements:

  • Located in the Benelux region.
