Operations Manager – Industrial Valves, Measurement & Instrumentation

Mackenzie Stuart is working exclusively with a Global Valve & Instrumentation Manufacturer who are currently looking for an Operations expert to be responsible for all aspects of Operations including Production, Health & Safety & Manufacturing for a Global Control Valve, Measurement & Instrumentation Portfolio focused on Chemical, Food & Beverage, Oil & Gas, Power & Many other specialty industries.

This position will be responsible for driving purpose;

  • Driving Operational Excellence, Cost Savings, Sales & Profit Supply, Continuous Improvement, HSE Optimization, Improve Manufacturing & Optimize Production process’
  • Reporting into the General Manager and be responsible for Two Direct Reports (Manufacturing & Maintenance) and indirectly responsible for >25 Head Count
  • Ensure Health & Safety, accident prevention & occupational safety in the field of production & maintenance as the highest priority
  • Ensure preventative manners and measures are put in place to avoid damage to persons, equipment, plants & materials
  • Ensure manufacturing meets the demands of the global market for short delivery times, outstanding quality and affordable prices while at the same time maintaining a high degree of flexibility
  • Machines, equipment, and other technical devices are used economically with increasing productivity and maintained in a value-preserving manner
  • Implementing Improvements is a continuous process and not a project
  • Manufacturing and Maintenance has sufficiently qualified and motivated employees, a constant learning is part of people development
  • Workplaces are up-to-date and equipped in accordance with the applicable safety regulations and ergonomic guidelines;
  • Incumbent guarantees that GM Supply is always informed about the status of development for individual projects as well as about extraordinary events in production at any time

Responsibilities & Objectives;

  • Set the targets and the annual program for production, track and report progress
  • Ensure guidelines and written instructions are trained and document
  • Interface with planning to department to plan capacity for the day, month and year
  • Control and monitor production processes in the factory with regard to quantity, quality, deadlines and costs as well as ensuring compliance with quality, occupational safety and environmental requirements. Monitor KPI’s and drive conclusions. Initiated programs to maintain or improve indicators
  • Performance Management of direct reports and planning of personnel development in production
  • Ensure that machine conditions, systems and devices including their maintenance intervals, consumables and spare parts, material and tool consumption are monitored
  • Advice on the production of prototypes, introduction of new production processes, materials and technologies as well as the development and updating of training plans for employees. Partner with R&D and GPM in all NPI processes
  • Inform GM Supply about emerging or occurring low-capacity utilization or other deviations in production as well as information of affected bodies about foreseeable unsustainable delivery dates, quality problems and material bottlenecks, information works council about topics requiring co-determination
  • Daily management and moderation of the Supply Ops meeting including review of capacity planning and provisioning, committee analysis, backlog assessment/avoidance and initiation of corrective ad hoc measures
  • Enabling continuous process optimization taking into account new manufacturing technologies, organizational forms and manufacturing methods
  • Preparation of the budget planning of the overall production including the investment and personnel planning
  • Regular preparation of production reports and their submission to the superior body
  • The implementation of all measures for occupational health / safety /environmental protection in the sense of the transferred business obligations must be ensured. This includes i.e. risk assessment, incident assessments incl. reporting and regular trainings on occupational health and safety
  • Behavioural Based Safety (BBS) will be the base for a continuous improvement of the safety culture; the incumbent is acting as a role model.
  • Leading and lacking indicators are tracked, and measures defined if deviating from the target

Candidate Requirements:

  • This position is located in the Breman area of Germany (North) Candidate must be located or willing to travel regularly to the Production site
  • Must be capable in English & German
  • Have a deep understanding and expertise of Industrial Automation Technologies i.e. Valves, Valve Automation, Measurement/Analytical, Process Automation / Pneumatics
  • Deep understanding of metal working & related manufacturing technologies & machinery
  • Experience with Project Management & proven record of operational excellence projects
  • Attained Six Sigma is a strong asset or experience implementing Lean Process or higher
  • Goal-oriented, assertive, resilient
  • Strongly developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-Motivated
  • Used to work in Matrix-Organizations
  • Practical Knowledge in Management-Systems (ISO-9001, ISO-14001 etc.)
