Sales Director, France – Wood Coatings (Interior & Exterior) & Varnishes, Flooring & Specialty Chemicals

Mackenzie Stuart is working in close partnership with a Global Specialty Chemical Manufacturer who are currently looking for a Sales Director to direct achievement of sales and profitability objectives for the Wood Coatings, Flooring & Specialty Chemicals BU portfolio across France. The successful candidate will provide direction and oversight of Sales Acumen including Sales & Regional Managers

Responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing the effectiveness of all direct reports in achieving individual performance objectives toward the group goal
  • Be the key leader for the region & be accountable, strategically secure & expand current and new major KA’s across France & become the customers across Europe.
  • Co-ordinate, support & grow Regional & Sales Managers with the intent to expand across the country, expanding portfolio to wider regions
  • Report to HQ & be the Regional leader for the sales division
  • Implement strategic sales strategy to capture & secure growth
  • Reorganise & implement Sales strategy for BU product portfolio
  • Increase shares with profitability & win business in new regions
  • Create customer matrix & expand on current network serving driving business growth across France
  • Implement effective negotiation strategy to secure new business whilst implementing oversight & development of Sales & Regional Managers
  • Be the point of contact for all Sales-related matters across the region
  • Determine current requirements and trends, you will maintain contact with customers, some of whom are world market leaders, as well as with end customers, suppliers & distributors

To be considered for the role you must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be located in France with a home-based office & be willing to travel regularly to the HQ for Regional Director meetings
  • Must be Bilingual in French & English with desirable ability to negotiate in German
  • +5 recent years’ experience in Wood Coatings (Interior & Exterior) and Varnishes in commercial & domestic settings with exposure to industrial coatings, Flooring, UV Technology & Specialty Chemical markets
  • Must possess a high level of leadership acumen and the ability to think strategically and influence decisions at a high level
  • Must be able to show the ability to manage Sales & Regional Managers
  • Be able to communicate assertively, effectively, and credibly across all levels of the organisation

Recommended Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s is preferred and MA Business related field is desirable
  • Minimum of 8 years of Sales Management experience or Commercial related exposure management experience within Wood Coatings (Interior & Exterior) & Varnishes, Flooring, Industrial Coatings or Specialty Chemicals within France
  • Travel will be occasionally required 50% of the time

  • Continuously measure KPI’s & results, to review operating plans to help people stay focused on the priorities that will drive success
  • Technical knowledge to implement sales strategies, business development, marketing technical, ad operations and sales support programs to maximize sales and profitability
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all the factors that affect the business including customers, competitors, business partners, economic environment and internal operations.
  • Embrace personal change, demonstrates flexibility & implement experience to support new alternatives and solutions with a positive attitude
  • Be able to manage multiple activities to achieve goals and responsibilities

Necessary skills

  • Proven work experience as a Sales Management or similar commercial executive
  • Ability to prioritise workload, multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organisational skills, with an ability to prioritise important projects and sales opportunities
  • Ability to manage senior teams
  • PC Requirements- MS Office- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Effective communication with work contacts- Peers, CEO and Technical departments
  • Strong phone, email and in-person communication skills
