Accounting Controller

Accounting Controller – Homebuilding | North Carolina

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Controller to oversee all financial operations for a growing homebuilding company based in North Carolina. This role will lead the accounting function, ensure accurate financial reporting, and support strategic decision‑making across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all day‑to‑day accounting operations, including AP/AR, payroll, job costing, and general ledger
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash‑flow management
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant state/federal regulations
  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls
  • Partner with construction, sales, and operations teams to track project performance and profitability
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, lenders, and financial partners
  • Lead and develop the accounting team

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in residential construction or real estate development
  • Strong knowledge of homebuilding job‑cost accounting and reporting
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills
