Process Engineer (Building Materials – Siding)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Process Engineer to join a market leading company in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. As a Process Engineer in the building materials industry, specifically focusing on siding production, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of our manufacturing processes. Your primary responsibility will be to optimize production methods, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions to enhance overall productivity and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Process Optimization: Analyze existing manufacturing processes, identify bottlenecks, and develop innovative solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity.
2. Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives, employing methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other relevant methodologies to identify process improvement opportunities.
3. Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the Quality Control team to ensure that product quality standards are met throughout the manufacturing process. Develop and implement quality control measures, conduct root cause analyses, and drive corrective actions.
4. Equipment and Tooling: Evaluate, select, and optimize equipment, machinery, and tooling used in the siding production process. Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure the reliability and performance of equipment.
5. Process Documentation: Create and maintain accurate and up-to-date process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process flowcharts.
6. Training and Support: Provide training and support to manufacturing personnel, ensuring that they have a solid understanding of the manufacturing processes and procedures. Foster a culture of operational excellence and continuous learning within the team.
7. Health and Safety Compliance: Collaborate with the Health and Safety department to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. Identify potential safety hazards and develop appropriate controls and measures to mitigate risks.
8. Project Management: Lead or contribute to process improvement projects, coordinating cross-functional teams, monitoring project timelines, and ensuring successful implementation within budgetary constraints.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
• Proven experience as a Process Engineer in the building materials industry, with specific expertise in siding production preferred.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling related to building materials, preferably siding.
• Proficiency in process optimization methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or similar.
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data, conduct root cause analyses, and implement effective solutions.
