Technical Support Engineer, North Carolina – Specialty Co-Polyesters

Mackenzie Stuart has partnered with a leading, global, specialty co-polyester manufacturer in their search for a highly experienced Technical Support Engineer to join their team in helping to integrate and scale-up assets and production processes in North Carolina across a portfolio of specialty co-polyesters as well as to provide technical support to US partners and customers.

Purpose:

As a Technical Support Engineer you will report to the plant Process Engineer. The primary responsibilities will be to support our internal production processes and lead the technical support to our US customers. The role will involve engaging with a broad array of external and internal stakeholders, including Customers, Process Operators, Engineers, Supervisors, and other site personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • General technical knowledge on polyester processing technologies: extrusion, extrusion blow moulding, injection moulding and others
  • Serves as both the back-up of the plant Process Engineer and technical support to customers
  • Connects the chemistry properties of the resins to the practical influence in its processing and properties in the customers, understands the problems that may arise and helps identifying its origin
  • Engages with other main function areas such as Product Development to improve the chemical recipes and applications
  • Reviews daily operation of production areas then performs process troubleshooting to maintain capacity operation as required
  • Performs process optimization to maximize quality and minimize operating costs
  • Performs day-to-day yield improvement and process performance monitoring to assure maximum production output
  • Works with company resources to implement and commercialize new products
  • Works with Process Operators, Engineers, Supervisors, and other site personnel to develop, implement and improve process control systems within the plant
  • Participates in other Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience as a Chemical Process Engineer in chemical manufacturing facility
  • Well versed in plant process engineering, troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques, engineering standards, Process Safety Management (PSM),
  • Management of Change
  • Able to interface with all employees involved in process engineering work, including
  • Process Operators, Manufacturing Engineers, Production Manager, Maintenance and members of Site Leadership Team or Corporate management, as required
  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication with the ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization
  • Multitasks, prioritizes, and meets deadlines in a timely manner
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Willingness to travel
