Career development can take many forms at Mackenzie Stuart depending on your aspirations and skillset. Consultants could expect to progress into a managerial role within 12 – 18 months, and progress to become a Business Manager within 18 – 24 months. Beyond that, your career could take you to Divisional Manager/ Director level, or you could choose to take the route of owning an equity stake and running your own recruitment business within our group.

I studied Politics and International Relations at the University of Nottingham, and was eager to utilise the skills I gained at University & start my professional career. Recruitment seemed like a good industry to explore as many of the skills I had developed throughout university were transferrable, such as communication, time management and research skills. After exploring several companies, Mackenzie Stuart stood out to me due to the investment they put into their graduates – they only promote internally meaning that the opportunities for growth & progression are endless! After completing my studies at Newcastle University, I joined Mackenzie Stuart to embark on a career in executive search. After graduating from the Leeds Beckett University with a Degree in Marketing, I was eager to begin a career that would not only challenge me but also provide a dynamic and fast-paced environment where I could continuously grow and develop my skills. This led me to pursue a career in Executive Search.

I joined the Mackenzie Stuart London office as a graduate from Northumbria University in Newcastle where I studied International Business Management. Global executive search seemed like an ideal career path for me, given my background in international business management. The dynamic and fast-paced nature of global executive search aligns perfectly with my ambitions, offering constant challenges and opportunities for growth. This career path allows me to play a strategic role in shaping the leadership teams of global organizations and making a meaningful impact on their long-term success.
As I continued to learn more about Mackenzie Stuart during the interview process, I quickly discovered this is where I wanted to be. After studying International Business Management at Northumbria University, I wanted a career that would push me and offer plenty of room for growth. Recruitment felt like the right path, giving me the chance to connect with people and make a real impact.
Ironically, growing up, chemistry was for sure my least favourite academic subject. So, it’s funny that I now specialize in the chemicals market—but I’ve actually come to really enjoy it and wouldn’t switch for anything else. I’ve built some great relationships, particularly in the coatings and adhesives space and I’m excited to establish many more!
Since joining Mackenzie Stuart, I’ve had fantastic support from the team and quickly felt at home. I knew I wanted to do recruitment throughout my final year at University and Mackenzie Stuart was actually the first place I interviewed for. As soon as I’d completed the first stage I knew it was the place I wanted to be. After graduating with a Degree in Genetics from The University of Nottingham, I joined Mackenzie Stuart in the London office. I knew I wasn’t suited in a laboratory environment and decided to seek opportunities where I could utilise my natural speaking ability and confidence. As a graduate consultant, you are trained exceptionally well, my manager has been instrumental to my success here at Mackenzie Stuart.
I’m a big advocate for meritocracy, and fortunately that’s exactly what our organization’s structure is. Should you wish to reach director level, you can, just start billing and work hard. Work hard, play hard is certainly a motto that is synonymous with Mackenzie Stuart. Being placed in the growing market of Aesthetics and Dermatology has been fast-paced and I’ve since developed strong partnerships with growing organizations.
