Mackenzie Stuart is currently looking to recruit an Assistant Tax Manager for an industry leading, automotive manufacturing organisation based in Munich, Germany. The candidate will play a key role in the development and growth of the tax department and will report International Tax Director. The candidate will have direct exposure to the Senior Management of the organisation and therefore must have an excellent background working in both public practice and industry.

Main Responsibilities:
*Completion of tax returns and supporting calculations.
*Prepare and review quarterly and annual tax provision.
*Completion of income tax fillings for the group.
*Ensure compliance and consolidation of reporting under HGB and USGAAP.
*Completion of income tax audits.
*Tax analysis and identifying tax planning opportunities.

Candidate Profile:
*Educated to degree level with a focus on Accounting/Finance – Master’s Degree in Taxation desirable.
*A German citizen or the ability to work and live in the Germany.
*Minimum 3 years’ experience – Big 4 or Public Accountancy desirable.
*Excellent analytical and problem solving skills and attention to detail.
*Strong background in tax provision and compliance.
*Experience working within the Manufacturing industry.

The role is based in Massachusetts, USA and will report into the Global VP Tax. The organisation is a global leader in the Industrial Manufacturing industry, operating across a number of sectors. The candidate will have direct exposure to the Senior Management of the organisation and therefore must have a stellar background working in multination organisations.

The candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following tasks:
*Completion of U.S. tax reports for the organisation.
*Prepare and review quarterly and annual tax provision.
*Manage the preparation of the worldwide tax provision.
*Lead the federal, state and local tax audits.
*Review and coordinate preparation of Federal and State income tax returns with outside firm.
*Ensure SOX compliance and coordinate documentation evidencing internal controls have been followed
*Tax analysis and identifying tax planning opportunities.
*Assist with tax accounting projects as required.

Candidate Profile:
*Degree with a focus on Accounting/Finance – Master’s degree preferred.

*Knowledge of international tax and foreign transfer pricing regulations.

The sucessful candidate will act as the principal financial advisor and partner to the EVP Operations, and a key member of the EVP Finance’s leadership team. The Finance director will be responsible for a team of 10+ financial controllers who support this critical position.

Responsibilities:

*Advise the EVP Operations and other senior leaders on investment priorities, optimization projects and financial planning to deliver the short and long term operational goals and company strategies
*Proactively identifies and communicates areas for operational and financial improvement within the division/function and the business. Plays a leadership role in making the division/function and the company more efficient and effective
*Lead the continuous enhancement of processes and systems to provide financial and operational information on business performance and related business insights in the areas of product costs, and manufacturing and supply chain performance
*Leads the financial planning process to provide division/function leadership, with timely business forecasts and related business insights. Leads the annual budget process for the Operations function. Appropriately balances corporate and divisional perspectives in developing budgets and forecasts, and provides transparency into business drivers, risks and opportunities.
*Direct responsibility for securing the appropriate environment of internal financial controls within areas of responsibility and for the accuracy of operations financial results in accordance with US GAAP.
*As needed, leads important division/function and corporate initiatives to successful completion, often enlisting resources and managing teams of employees from a variety of functions and organizations.
*Lead a high-performing finance organization which includes plant and supply chain financial controllers. Evaluates talent using the finance competency model, and effectively implements the company’s performance management practices. Actively develops finance talent and contributes to the development of future finance leaders.
*Works and manages effectively across the company’s matrix organisation, Promotes effective lateral communication and coordination across groups, internal and external to the Finance function, to improve efficiency and achieve desired results. Is a visible and effective ambassador for the finance function. Ensures that important company and functional messages, including priorities and goals, are cascaded throughout the organisation.

Qualifications:

*Strong business acumen and judgement, and demonstrated experience in senior operations finance roles. Able to think strategically about business issues.
*Outstanding operations business analysis, financial planning and reporting skills that generate business insights that add measurable value. Current knowledge of current trends in finance and functional best-practices.
*Excellent at workload prioritisation, resource management, and project management. Develops and manages processes that are effective and efficient.
*Effective at driving change and managing teams to achieve desired results. Capable of articulating a vision or plan, gaining organisational commitment to action, and managing through others to achieve results. Track record in influencing senior management.
*Strong interpersonal, communication (both written and verbal), and presentation skills. Capable of representing the EVP Finance and division/function Executives in high-visibility settings. Maintains effective external industry and professional network.
*Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a matrix environment, and capable of gaining commitment and coordinated action for initiatives. Maintains effective working relationships across the company, at the divisional, functional, and corporate level.
*Demonstrated track record of effective performance management and developing staff and future leaders.
*Strong knowledge of US accounting regulations and company accounting policies and practices, and unquestioned integrity in the application of such standards.
*10-15 years of relevant experience with demonstrated success in a variety of business environments and leadership positions, with particular emphasis on finance roles in manufacturing and supply chain; Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance required; Masters’ degree preferred.
*Languages: English and German language skills required, French preferred
