Land Development Manager – Home Building
Location: Venice, Florida

THE BUSINESS

Mackenzie Stuart are presently recruiting on behalf of a Top 50 US home builder, looking for a local Land Development Manager to work closely with the VP of Land. The ideal candidate will have local market knowledge along with a network of contacts.

THE ROLE

-Plans and directs land development business including planning, design and development.
-Develop policies for usage, sale of properties and the construction schedule.
-Review and sign plats and other documents pertaining to land development.
-Budget for the construction of the entrances, lots, amenities and associated infrastructure for communities; including road, drainage, water, sewer and landscaping.
-Responsible for developing departmental overhead budget and controlling the budget.
-Business operations for the land development department.
-Work with area municipalities and utility contractors.

Requirements

-Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Must have man management experience
-Must have a vehicle, a valid driver’s license, and be willing to travel.
-Ideally local market knowledge with a contact base throughout Central West Florida.

THE BUSINESS

Mackenzie Stuart are presently recruiting on behalf of a national home builder. As market conditions continue to strengthen they are now looking to bolster their South East Florida land team with the addition of an experienced land development professional.

THE ROLE

Mackenzie Stuart is currently working with a Top 10 global transportation and infrastructure construction firm who are seeking to appoint a Chief Estimator responsible for leading the estimating/preconstruction/business development departments.

The Role:

* Prepare and complex proposals/tenders on major highways, rail, tunnelling and bridges throughout the USA.
* Responsible for leading a full estimating/preconstruction department on Alternative Delivery, Design-Build and PPP projects ranging from $250Mn to +$5Bn.
* Coordinate pre-construction duties and meetings with owner, architect, engineers and subcontractors/suppliers about prospective work.
* Be able to assess the market for shifts/patterns that may contribute to increase in future workload.
* Oversee and review the work of the estimating department including Senior Estimators ensuring an effective and streamlined bid process.
* Prepare estimates at different levels of completion.
* Coordinate and supervise group work effort and ability to represent the company on high profile preconstruction matters.

Key Experience:

* Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or Architecture.
* 15 years’ relevant industry experience.
* Experience leading an estimating dept. on +$250M Design-Build, P3 and Alternative Delivery heavy civil/infrastructure projects in USA.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively present to Executive Management.
* Competent in your approach, people management and general demeanour in the workplace.
* A strong understanding of private and Local/State/Federal contracting regulations and policies.
* Advanced computer/software skills with MS Office, AutoCAD, Primavera P6, InRoads.

The Role:
*The Project Manager will have full responsibility for bidding, preconstruction and delivery on a number of complex heavy highway, bridge and civil projects across South Carolina.
*Plan, direct and coordinate all construction/engineering activities to ensure goals and objectives are accomplished within the allotted time frame.
*Preconstruction and  construction delivery of both Design-Build & Bid-Build $10M-$500M projects.
*Responsible for managing project staff ~100 employees in total.
*Be the company representative to the client and manage partners/sub-contractors accordingly.
*Responsible to Division Manager & Area President of the company.

The Requirements:
*Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (Preferred)
*10 years’ experience in a construction management capacity on heavy civil/infrastructure self-perform projects.
*Professional Engineer License – SC.
*Bid-Build and Design-Build experience on $10M-$500M projects.
*Knowledge and understanding of State DOT and Federal specifications.
*Proficient with Primavera P6 Scheduling Software.
*Strong leadership skills coupled with excellent communication skills.

The Role –
Provides leadership, guidance and expertise by defining, implementing and monitoring department estimating resources, guidelines, best practices and procedures.

*Leads the effort to identify and qualify for high-potential opportunities and assists in securing new work by investigating leads, participating in estimates, working with subcontractors and/or participating in proposals and presentations.
*Assists in the coordination of subcontractor selection with operations team for pursuits
